 Mid-week greetings April 11, 2018

The Mid-Week Greetings is a weekly newsletter detailing parish life at St. Anne’s parish, Lee’s Summit, MO. It is updated and published weekly.

Outdoor work dayApril 21 @ 9:00 – weeds, flowers, garden, branches, windows and more will be addressed.

Display for Service Men & Women – Every week we pray for a number of service men & women during the Prayers of the People. Many of us would like to know more about these folks other than just their name. Sandra Haight is working on a display that would include a picture of these individuals, their branch of service, where they are stationed, and how they are connected to St. Annes. If you know any of these people would you please email Sandra (smhaight7) the above information and bring in a picture of them. She will put together a display on one of the bulletin boards in the hallway outside the sanctuary. A printed picture is preferred, but if you only have a digital image with no way to print it, we can find a way to make that happen.

Matching grant for mortgage – an anonymous donor has committed to matching any contributions toward paying off the church mortgage, up to $10,000.

Garage Sale Fundraiser – We’re planning to have a yard sale to raise $ to put toward the mortgage. We’re in the early planning stages, but if you could set things aside that you’d like to donate while you’re spring cleaning we’ll be collecting things as the sale gets closer. Please don’t bring them to the church yet. We’ll let you know when we’re ready. If you have a suggested sale price for an item, please mark it. If not, we’ll likely let the customers make us offers. Please no old TVs. Thanks!

Legos, Legos, Legos!!! – Next year we are going to use a new Sunday School Curriculum called Building Faith Brick by Brick. It uses Lego blocks as an extension to the week’s story. If you have any Lego blocks, mini figures, or Playmobile people that you would be willing to donate to our program please see Laura Zimmer.

St. Anne’s has gone live – As you have probably heard St. Anne’s is live streaming our Sunday services. If you miss church, you can watch us on YouTube at 10:00 . A link is provided on our website and our facebook page. As we are streamlining this process, if you get a chance to watch, share some feedback with Eric or Meg.

Life Line Screening, May 4 – . Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to: blocked arteries which is a leading cause of stroke; abdominal aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta; hardening of the arteries in the legs which is a strong predictor of heart disease; atrial fibrillation or irregular heart beat which is closely tied to stroke risk; and a bone density screening, for men and women, used to assess the risk of osteoporosis. Register for a Wellness Package which includes 4 vascular tests and osteoporosis screening from $149 ($139 with our member discount). All five screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete. Teachers are scheduled a month at a time. Teachers are needed for 2 classes; grades 1-3 and grades 4-8. Grades 4-8 uses a curriculum published by the Episcopal church that follows the liturgy. It gives activities and guided discussion ideas. The younger class meets first with the PK-gr. 1 class to hear a story, then separates to their own classroom for discussion and activities. Materials and supplies are provided.
