Generous Listening

Generous Listening

We live in a time when it is so easy to only be/speak with people who are like us. We can live in neighborhoods, work in a cube, and even “unfriend” people on social media. Perhaps it is a little counter-cultural to follow Christ and attempt the impossible. Love one another. Loving also includes listening and being open to being changed. When we love we are changed. When we truly try to hear what others are sharing we open ourselves to the Spirit. In a time when public (and private) discourse can be heated debates let us be counter-cultural. Let’s be the rebels that take a deep breath when our emotions rise and simply listen.

I hope you will take some time to read this thoughtful article and consider how we can see and hear the Christ in others.
