Please join us as we celebrate the Great 50 Days of Easter! |
The Feast of Pentecost has been called the "birthday of the church." Parishioners at St Anne's stretched this year's "birthday" celebration throughout the week-end. On Friday, May 29, 45 folks from St. Anne's enjoyed a Royals game at Kauffman Stadium. On Saturday, May 30, 20 hard-working parishioners completed our new "adopt-a-spot" landscaping project. Over 250 trees, shrubs, perennial flowers, and ornamental grasses, provided by the Lee's Summit Beautification Commission, were planted and now present a wonderful garden entry for our parish. On Sunday, May 31st, our Sunday School teachers and students were honored during the Sunday worship service, and we concluded the celebration with a fun parish picnic.
On May 16th, the St. Anne's Team of 17 parishioners raised $2,150 for Hillcrest Transitonal Housing in its Annual Walk for the Homeless. And, St. Anne's parishioners organized and fielded 5 teams (out of 21 teams entered) in the Dean's Cup Classic Golf Tournament, benefitting Culinary Cornerstones. It was a busy and blessed day for our parish!

On May 10, Bishop Howe visited St. Anne's and confirmed seven young people. The parish also honored our university and high school graduates during the worship service.

Easter Day 2009 was joyous at St. Anne's - children flowering the cross, our Women's Group hosting a wonderful reception after our worship, and our youth group hiding Easter eggs for our younger members. Plus, for the first time, we packed 30 "BackSnack" backpacks with nutritious and tasty food and snacks for 30 children in a local elementary school who may not have enough food to eat on week-ends. Alleluia! Christ is risen. The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia!
St. Anne's Chruch has fourteen new Stations of the Cross. Each cross is unique, made and donated to the church by a craftsperson who is a member of the parish or a member of the Lee's Summit Woodworkers Guild.
