Fall at St. Anne’s

Fall at St. Anne’s

IMG_7461-001Tis the season for kick-offs. Have I ever told you that I adore college football? I am slowly working to love the Tigers the way I have always loved the Hawkeyes. The colors are right…

Life at St. Anne’s is a lot like football season. Excitement is in the air, we all love good food, and there’s a whole lot of kicking-off going on. I returned to work from maternity leave and immediately jumped into Vacation Bible School, followed by preparations for the Bishop’s visitation, and planning for fall. Please check out our VBS video and some photos from the Bishop’s visit.

Saying we have a lot coming up would be a vast understatement and I promise there is something that will interest you in the coming months. This coming Sunday, September 14th will be Sunday school kick-off. This year we will be using a new program, Godly Play. Godly Play is a Montessori-based Sunday school curriculum that encourages children to explore the Bible stories in their own ways. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to be using this program!

Our picnic will begin with worship at 10am at Summit Park located at 451 NW Blue Parkway. Please bring a dish to share and be ready for a day of fun and fellowship. The park has a ball field and playground equipment, along with other amenities. For directions, click here.

Our annual celebration of St. Francis will occur on October 5th with our pet blessing. This will occur during our morning worship service. Please bring your furry friend with you to church that Sunday. If you have a pet that is not comfortable in such an environment please bring a photo. All friendly creatures are welcome even your child’s beloved stuffed animal.

logo-wdate-500And that brings me to one of my favorite activities that we do as a church family. The KC HUNGER RUN/WALK! This is an incredible event that we put on to raise funds for Episcopal Community Services. Our 5k takes place on October 11th and is a fun way to help alleviate hunger in our community. For more information please go to www.kchungerrun.org.

At the end of October will be our annual Oktoberfest. This event is a fun, fall celebration put on for our Sunday school program and youth group. Be looking for more information about this event in the near future.

Whew! I told you we have a lot going on in the coming months. I hope you will take some time to join us for these exciting events. Life at St. Anne’s is proof that worshiping and serving God is FUN!
